Reha Medin Global
The Reha Medin brand was founded in Istanbul in 1985.1 Tamer Çiçekçi joined the company in December 2008 as partner and general manager; he was thirty.23 Over the following years Reha Medin turned from a franchise network into an international broker selling Turkish homes to foreign investors. Tamer has led the company for eighteen years.
An office every six weeks
His first task was to turn the brand into a repeatable system. For twenty months a new franchise office opened every six weeks; only one applicant in forty was accepted.78 The network reached fifty offices in 2011, fifty-three offices in fourteen cities in 2013, and sixty-four at its widest.94 It served clients in seven languages through twenty international agencies, six offices abroad and more than 250 staff.510
To train qualified people for the sector he launched the Reha Medin Real Estate School initiative in 2009, reported by Cumhuriyet, Bugün, Takvim and Dünya.11 In 2011 the company set up VIP Assist, round-the-clock support for people renting or buying a home.8 In 2013 the network's digital franchise model went live.6
Firsts in Turkey
Automatic sharing of real estate listings between systems was started in Turkey for the first time together with sahibinden.com; the software connecting the two systems was written by hand by Reha Medin's own team.4
In November 2016 an agreement was reached with Atlasglobal: for the first time in Turkey an airline and a real estate company signed a joint marketing agreement. Reha Medin became the airline's exclusive broker for real estate sales abroad.12
Reha Medin became the first Turkish real estate company to open offices in the USA and Germany.13 RM USA was set up in Orlando for the American side.14
Large projects
In his first year the company won the Turkish sales of the Big Old Bazaar project in Northern Cyprus; it was his first press appearance as general manager.1516
In July 2012, 21 firms bid for the sales and marketing tender of the Mashattan project in Maslak; Reha Medin won.17 The project covered 433,821 square metres with ten towers and about 1,850 homes; it was the largest sales tender of its time.6
Over ten years the company represented 440 branded housing projects in sales abroad and managed 23 projects exclusively.6
Alongside global groups
In August 2014 Dubai-based DAMAC Properties set up its Turkey headquarters in Istanbul with Reha Medin. Hürriyet Daily News and Milliyet described Tamer as "DAMAC Turkey representative and chairman of Reha Medin".1819 A 25,000-home project was presented at the launch meetings.20
The same year consultancy for Japan's Sumitomo group began.21 Sumitomo had put Istanbul on the same shortlist as London and Los Angeles; the investment prepared with Tamer over months was about half a billion dollars.224
His own invention
He turned the way brokerage works into a patent application: a digital brokerage system that brings sellers, brokers and buyers together on a closed platform of approved members. Tamer himself is the inventor and the applicant.23
Reha Medin in the press
Reuters, The New York Times and Argentina's Clarín asked Tamer, as head of Reha Medin, about the Turkish housing market.2425 In 2011 he sat at The Business Year's real estate round table with CB Richard Ellis and Colliers International; Hürriyet Daily News wrote about him as DAMAC's Turkey representative.718 His first record in the Turkish press dates from January 2009, eleven years before Turing's patent.
